An event to bring the community together, Coberley Village Fete and Produce Show is to be held on 26 August, Bank Holiday Monday, in the pretty grounds of Coberley Church of England Primary School.
Each year, this has been a very popular event, with many hundreds enjoying the traditional Silver Band, Cream Teas, Barbecue and a Bar.
There is a Produce, Art and Handicraft Show in the marquee and around the grounds are stalls and games, as well as the Cotswold Alpacas, which come to meet and delight the children and adults alike. A spinning demonstration alongside, shows how their very soft fleeces are turned into knitting wool.
The Scarecrow Competition attracts the fanciful, weird and even satirical creations which are judged for a silver trophy. There are usually some topical well-known characters alongside the more conventional.
The Dog Show attracts a great deal of interest with canines of all sizes competing for rosettes, as the spectators sit on the straw bales around the ring.
There are all the usual stalls which make up a traditional English country fete, bric-a-brac, cakes and produce, along with children’s games and some for adults as well.
Ample parking is provided in the adjacent field and there is good wheelchair access.
